"A True Hyde Parker"

"Damaris Church Day, 82, of Hyde Park, passed away Aug. 31.
Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Chester Hendry and Dorothy (Eberhart) Hendry. She graduated from the Lab School in 1946 and the University of Chicago in 1950. An accomplished artist, she attended the National School of Painting and Sculpture in Mexico City and the Art Institute of Chicago.
"She retired from the University of Chicago Admissions Office in 1992 after 33 years of service. A life-long resident of Hyde Park, she loved her neighborhood and parks and walked everywhere, never owning a car.
"She found great joy in the many cats and dogs she adopted over the years and was never without a cat or dog companion. She generously gave to many animal shelters and rescues throughout the past years."
