The Manta Cultural Center Museum opened in 2009. It is dedicated to pre-Columbian culture and history. It was previously part of the Central Bank of Ecuador but since October 2010 it has been transferred to the Ecuadorian Ministry of Culture.

The museum is small but you get an overview of the history of Ecuador, from the first inhabitants, through the conquest, the colonial and republican periods, up to the present period. The exhibitions include ancient ceramics, sculptures, paintings, utensils and various other objects and works of art.

There is a shop where you can buy a wide range of goods such as books and postcards, a library with books and videos etc and also an educational Documentary Center.

It is worth a visit if you're in Manta, takes less than an hour.
