Little Chapel of the Roses - Resthaven Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK - Cemetery Chapels on Waymarking.com

Resthaven Cemetery was established in 1947 by the Kenneth R. White family, on 80 acres of land that is now at the southeast corner of SW 104th and Western Avenue, back when Western was a dirt road and there was no city water this far south; the beautiful lake here was constructed to capture rainwater for irrigation. The first burial was an unclaimed baby girl, who was laid to rest on November 6th, 1947.

Since that time the cemetery has made additional land purchases and now covers 113 acres, about half of which is still undeveloped. Other additions include a funeral home, a crematorium (the first in Oklahoma City) and, in 1960, the Little Chapel of the Roses. In addition to funerals the Little Chapel has also hosted weddings and has served several church start-ups.
