On a typical day in 2018, some 10,450 passengers pass through 22nd Street Station's stationhouse. While in a quiet neighbourhood, this station is the hub for buses linking it to Richmond, Delta, Surrey, as well as New Westminster.

22nd Street Station opened on December 11, 1985 as one of the first stations of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain network. It has always been a major transfer point in the network with a bus loop that moves people to work in Annacis Island and Richmond's Fraserwood district.

Meanwhile, others travel the bedroom suburbs of North Delta and Surrey's Scottsdale area to get to work.

As a result in 2018, it was the 19th busiest station of the network's 53 stations.
