"Notre-Dame-dèl-Vaux Church was founded in the 8th century before becoming part of the chapter of the Collegiate Church of Lobbes in 973 and then becoming an auxiliary church of the Collegiate Church of Saint-Théodard in Thuin in 1494. After the tumults of the Revolution and the suppression of the Thuin Chapter, the church became a parish church in 1803.

Originally Romanesque, the sanctuary was transformed into a Gothic style in the 16th century when windows were drilled into former sandstone walls in the region. The building adopts a simple layout consisting of a square tower, a single nave and a flat-headed choir. The church preserves some very beautiful works of art, including an exceptional Romanesque Sedes Sapientiae, a representation of the Virgin and Child on a throne. There is also a statue of Saint Roch from the 18th century, which is walked every year in the streets of Thuin during the march dedicated to him. Outside there are 16th century funeral stelae and a 1306 tombstone, the oldest preserved in the region!

The church is part of a complex, classified as a site, consisting of the sanctuary, the retaining wall, the paved alleys, the paved staircase located under the vaulted passage of the choir and the square du Moustier, an old cemetery."
