Medici Chapel is a domed structure containing tombs of the Medici family. It includes the New Sacristy created by Michelangelo and the Chapel of the Princes which is topped by a 59 meter dome designed by Bernardo Buontalenti and begun in 1604. The dome was left incomplete at the end of the Medici period. It later was decorated with a fresco created by Pietro Benvenuti in 1828 which contains scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
