"Tony Packo's started in 1932 where Tony only sold ice cream and sandwiches. A few years later he came up with the Hungarian Hot Dog, and its popularity afforded them the ability to move to the current location at the corner of Front and Consul streets.
Jamie Farr grew up in Toledo and starred as Maxwell Q. Klinger on the television series M*A*S*H. He enjoyed Tony Packo's hot dogs so much that he mentioned the cafe in several episodes.
Farr still returns to Tony Packo's occasionally. In addition many celebrities make it a point to stop at Tony Packo's when in the area. A tradition was started by Burt Reynolds in 1972 to sign hot dog buns to hang on the wall.
Legend has it that the owners wanted his signature, but there was nothing immediately available for him to sign, so they handed Reynolds a bun. Since it didn't hold up very well, subsequent signatures have been made on fake hot dog buns. Here you can find signatures from Presidents, musicians, comedians, television and movie stars, politicians and many others."
