"The Lauderdale House, used as a conference center and dormitory, was destroyed Tuesday when a fire roared through the renovated structure, center administrator Gloria Jaster said

Built in the Greek-Revival style, the Lauderdale House was moved to Winedale from Somerville in 1968 to save it from inundation by Lake Somerville.

The Lauderdale House served as the dormitory for the student actors who spend the summer at Winedale producing the Shakespeare program."
