St. Francis Retreat in San Juan Bautista, Calif. is a facility run by friars of the Franciscan Order. It is open to anybody seeking spiritual growth.

The retreat was founded in 1947, when the Franciscan Order purchased the main buildings of what had been Rancho San Justo.

In the 1950s, more buildings were added to the retreat. St. Francis Chapel including its bell tower (picture right) was completed in the late 1950’s.
