[FR] Le Mémorial national aux soldats morts pour la France en opérations extérieures est un projet qui trouve sont origine en 2011 par le ministre de la Défense Gérard Longuet au Général Thorette. Il a vocation à rendre hommage aux hommes et aux femmes qui ont combattu après la fin de la guerre d'Algérie. Ce mémorial est composé d'une sculpture de 6 militaires (5 hommes et 1 femme) chargés de représenter la communauté militaire portant un cercueil invisible. A l'extérieur, des plaques gravées des noms des personnes mortes pour la France, répartis par théâtre. Ce mémorial est implanté au jardin noir (jardin Eugène Djendi) dans le parc André Citroën. Cette localisation est volontairement choisie car ce parc, ouvert au public, se situe à côté du ministère des Armées.
Ce mémorial de 5 000 tonnes a été conçu par l'architecte Benjamin Doré et le sculpteur Stéphane Vigny.
[EN] The National Memorial to the soldiers dead for France outside the project that is are originated in 2011 by the Minister of Defense Gerard Longuet to General Thorette. It is intended to honor the men and women who fought after the end of the war in Algeria. This memorial is composed of a sculpture of 6 soldiers (5 men and 1 woman). On the outside, plates engraved with names of dead people for France, divided by theater. This memorial is implanted in the black garden (Eugène Djendi garden) in the André Citroën park. This location is deliberately chosen in this park, open to the public, located next to the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
This 5000-ton memorial was designed by architect Benjamin Doré and sculptor Stéphane Vigny.
