Please Note: this sculpture is on an outside deck, on the second floor of the Richcraft Recreation Complex, on Innovation Drive. Because the railing around the deck is not high enough or secure enough, you may need to seek the assistance of an attendant to enter on the deck as the door giving access to it was locked when I took the photos in 2017. If this issue has not been rectified, you will nevertheless be able to take a photo of the sculpture or part of it from inside the complex from the door leading to the deck or from behind the building by backing up until you can see it.

Silver Line

Silver Line draws inspiration from the patterned choreography of ‘Cloud Hands’, a t’ai chi movement which incorporates a rolling, sweeping motion of the arms and hands in a graceful gesture. The artwork is suggestive of weather phenomena, and makes reference to the human connection to nature that is expressed through recreational activity.

Silver Line is a three part installation consisting of a pair of binoculars, a cloud fabricated in aluminum and stainless steel, and a poised bronze female figure. The three sculptural components come into alignment when viewed through the binoculars. The cloud appears to float at the figure’s fingertips, enveloped by the steam released from the building ventilation chimneys.

Cette sculpture se trouve sur un pont extérieur, au deuxième étage du complexe de loisirs Richcraft, sur Innovation Drive. Comme la rambarde autour du pont n'est ni assez haute ni suffisamment sécurisée, vous devrez peut-être faire appel à un préposé pour entrer sur le pont, car la porte d'accès était verrouillée lorsque j'ai pris les photos en 2017. Si le problème n’a pas été rectifié, vous pourrez néanmoins prendre une photo de la sculpture ou d’une partie de celle-ci depuis l’intérieur du complexe, depuis la porte menant au pont ou derrière le bâtiment, en reculant jusqu’à ce que vous puissiez la voir.

Ligne argentée

L’œuvre intitulée Ligne argentée s’inspire de la chorégraphie structurée du mouvement de taï-chi « mouvoir les mains comme les nuages », geste gracieux de balayage par ondulation des bras et des mains. Elle évoque un phénomène météorologique et renvoie au lien entre l’humain et la nature qui s’exprime au moyen d’une activité de loisir.

Ligne argentée est une installation en trois parties composée de jumelles, d’un nuage en aluminium et en acier inoxydable et d’un bronze représentant une femme sereine. Vues à travers les jumelles, les trois composantes sculpturales s’alignent. Le nuage semble flotter au bout des doigts de la femme, enveloppés par la vapeur qui s’échappe des cheminées de ventilation du bâtiment.
