NRHP Nomination Form"A fine, diminutive, Beaux Arts bank built in 1917. In spite of some unfortunate changes, it helps define the historic character of the east side of the square."

"Reorganizing Bank at Paris
Doors of the American National Bank of Paris failed to open and notices posted by G.T. Witt, National Bank examiner, said affairs of the institution were in the hands of the comptroller of currency.
The American National, with a total capital and surplus of $300.000, was reputed to be the largest depository in Paris. It was founded in 1907.
No reason for the unexpected closing was given. Unofficial statements, however, said efforts were being made to reorganize and re-open the institution immediately. S.L. Bedford is president. There are two other banks here."
