In 2007 the wood sculptor Birgitt Jönsson designed this log hive with the eagle owl.
A log hive is an artificial man-made bee hive consisting of a hollowed out tree trunk. Log hives belong to the oldest artificial and transportable bee dwellings. They represent a stage of development in Zeidlerei and mark the transition to planned beekeeping.
The stems were often decorated with animal figures, faces, grimaces or similar defensive symbols against disease, witchcraft or theft.
