This pillar is situated between two large wind turbines on the flat summit of the 223 metre Droop Hill, some eight miles west of the town of Stonehaven on the east coast of Scotland. The hill is situated amongst a jumble of hills of similar height above the north-eastern extremity of the Howe of the Mearns and is around a mile or so north-west of the villages of Glenbervie and Drumlithie. The pillar is in good condition as befitting a hill which receives few visits.

STEEPNESS: A relatively easy climb from the east.

TERRAIN: A track to the summit area, and then a few hundred yards of grassy moorland which would be boggy in the wet.

ACCESSIBILITY: The only access up the hill is from the north-east along a track which leads off the minor road heading north-westwards from Glenbervie. It is less than half a mile from the beginning of the track, where there is room to park, to the pillar.

NAVIGATION: The track heads up the hill via two gates and passes a barn to the left and the right-hand turbine to the right, reaching the flattish summit area. The pillar is almost straight ahead to the south in between both turbines.

DANGER: None unless encountering livestock on the hill.
