Milford provided a connecting point between the mines to the west and the railroad through town. The Atkin hotel was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The neon sign reflects the name change to the Horn Silver hotel. Horn Silver was also the name of one of the most productive silver mines. The body of the sign is a torch and has been either green or red or both. The torch is outlined in white neon as is the word HOTEL. The attaching arms also carry neon, the upper arm has the word HORN, the bottom is Silver. They are in gold neon. The sign is no more decrepit than the building itself.
