Leadbelly was born in Mooringsport, Louisiana about 15 miles north of Shreveport. Leadbelly sang his way out of prison as the story goes. A master of the 12 string guitar. He is most notable for "Goodnight Irene" and "Black Betty". Also recorded the song "Midnight Special". Born in 1888 and died in New York, in 1949.
