Dawson Creek Cemetery is within the Peace River Regional District of British Columbia. This is one of the older cemeteries in Dawson Creek and is about 10 acres in size. If you look at the cemetery in a overview such as google map one realizes this cemetery is triangular in shape. There is an open entrance gate with two natural stone pillars and the cemetery sign sets in front on the left before you enter. The city of Dawson Creek maintains this cemetery and others in the area. At the time we were there some dandelions were making an appearance. There are approximately 3,610 known interments. Most of the grave markers are either flush or slightly raised. There are several columbariums within the cemetery.
Dawson Creek is in Peace River Country in beautiful British Columbia. It has approximately 13,000 residents in this well known community. Dawson Creek is Mile "O" of the famous Alaska Highway.
In the spring of 1942, tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians arrived in Dawson Creek to build the Alaska Highway. In 2017, Dawson Creek celebrated the 75th anniversary of the completion of the Alaska Highway.
