The church was built as a mission by Bishop Henry Philpott in 1882 and subsequently used as a cemetery chapel. It was restored and rededicated in 1987.

A extensive cemetery surrounds this half-timbered church.

A large marble Celtic cross memorial carries the following dedication :-
"IN
LOVING MEMORY OF
HARRY ATTWOOD,
CALLED SUDDENLY TO REST
JULY 3RD 1939,
AGED 78 YEARS.
ALSO HIS WIFE
ETHEL MAY,
DIED JAN 30TH 1980
AGED 101 YEARS."
