Upstream from Sauveterre-de-Bearn to Navarrenx (18 km to the east), we come across numerous villages bordering the banks of the Gave d'Oloron, an important tributary of the Gave de Pau. Season, river, coming from the Basque province of Soule joins the Gave downstream of Sauveterre. Many castles nestle on the banks of the river.
