Jasper, situated in the Canadian Rockies, is, first and foremost, a tourist town. As such, the tourists need a place to picnic while the kiddies wear themselves out at a playground. Centennial Park fits that bill nicely, being well away from most of the bustle of the thousands of tourists the town welcomes annually and in a somewhat bucolic setting of mature trees and expanses of grass.
Much of the park's area is taken up by the three ball diamonds and the soccer/rugby pitch. All the diamonds are in good condition, with backstops, dugouts, some bleachers, even garbage cans in the outfield. All have good infields, fenced outfields with really nice grass, but no lighting for night games or concessions. We didn't see any scoreboards, either. The diamonds are used primarily for softball, with Little League ball also played in the park.
Jasper's major park, Centennial Park serves the needs of both visitors and residents, with playground, the aforementioned three ball diamonds, a soccer/rugby pitch, a log cabin with kitchen, public washrooms, and patio and a picnic area. As well, there are many benches arrayed about the park, as well as several picnic tables.
There's even a tree (still small as it was donated in 2017) which was donated to the Town of Jasper to mark Canada's 150th birthday.
