This museum exhibits traditional houses from northern Thailand. The houses and materials are authentic. The houses have been dismantled and conveyed to the site and then reconstructed. The exhibits are spread out over a lush green area of land adjacent to Chiang Mai University, to which the museum is affiliated.

The houses have 3 or 4 rooms, are constructed with wood and are surprisingly dark inside. They are all set above the ground.

Inside there are a number of contemporary artefacts of everyday life, plus a few others such as looms and farm equipment. Expect to spend 2 or 3 hours meandering through. There is a surprising absence of refreshments. Occasionally, batches of uni students visit to learn of their culture, to draw, or to generally observe the traditional lifestyle.

Waymark position is the main entrance.
Entry is 20 baht, apparently for locals and foreigners alike. This is ~75c.

A pleasant change from the busy, noisy outside world, just outside the gate.
