Part of an old cross-head in St Martin of Tours' church, Lyndon.
The cross-head was discovered in 1904 during the demolition of a a house in the village; it had been built up in the wall. Believed to be part of the old village cross, shown on old maps of 1663 which probably stood on the green near Luffenham Road, but later ascribed as part of a finial cross from the church, probably Transitional Norman, circa 1130.
Next to the cross on the sill are some framed correspondences from the time discussing its origins.
