Former school house in the school garden of the Altonaer Volksspark in the Bahrenfeld district of Hamburg.
In the probably most elaborate designed area of the Altona Volksspark is the school garden built around 1920 - an educational area for the natural science education of the Altona schoolchildren.
Originally, the school garden served the cultivation of visual material for school teaching in natural science and drawing. Altona schools also received their own garden sections. The children were introduced to the native plants in this way. There was also an agricultural garden with flowering and medicinal plants, as well as an arboretum, an alpinum and an orchard.
The school house, designed by Ferdinand Tutenberg, was, of course, also available to all Altona schools for lessons and offered sufficient space for practical and artistic natural science.
The building is now no longer used as a school and the interior is currently being rebuilt.
