The Douglas Corporation Millennium Water Feature incorporates three circular pools each with a single central fountain, and with each pool connected by a channel to allow the flow of water around the perimeter of the plot bounded by Athol Street and Lord Street.

The Douglas Corporation Millennium Water Feature was conceived and constructed by Douglas Council to mark the passing into the new millennium. Hence the three fountains representing the three millennia.

The Douglas Corporation Millennium Water Feature was construction on a small plot of land of uneven ground bounded on three sides by roads. The roads being Lord Street, Athol Street and Shaw’s Brow. The plot also drops steeply from Shaw’s Brow down to Lord Street.

Most of the plot is given over to shrubs, bushes and flowers interspersed with large boulders and gravel areas. There are some ‘palm trees’ one of which is now rather large given the passage of time since the feature was originally constructed.

Doreen Kinrade was on Douglas Council for nearly 20 years and served as the town's mayor from 1999 to 2001 and officiated at the opening of the Millennium Water Feature in April 2001.
