The Ramsey Lifeboat Staion is one of five stations on the Isle of Man. The volunteer crew provide a 24-hour rescue service around the north of the Island and in the northern Irish Sea.

The mission of the RNLI thanks to charitable giving is to save lives at sea.

The first RNLI flag was designed by Leonora Preston in 1884 after her brother was rescued by Ramsgate Lifeboat volunteers.

Leonora used the st. George's Cross as the basis for the flag and added a dark-blue bordering and the letters RNLI in each of the four white cantons.

As a finishing touch Leonora added a Tudor Crown and a foul anchor in the centre signifying the Institutions Royal Charter and is dedication to the sea. The RNLI adopted Leonora's flag in 1908.

Following the acession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 the instution chnage the crown "from the Tudor Style as worn by King George VI,to the St. Edward's crown worn by the newly appointed monarch." (visit link)
