"Victory" was painted by the husband and wife team of fine art trained artists Andrae and Priya Green. The huge mural is painted on the side of a 70' long four story high garage wall that abuts a narrow parking lot. The mural depicts two young girls that are pageant winners painted against a purple background. They are formally dressed in identical pink gowns and wear a sash over their right shoulders. The figures art painted on the extreme north end of the garage wall so that they are visible to westbound travelers on Taylor Street. The remainder of the wall is painted black and decorated with blue, red and yellow circles.
According to the artist:
"As we have been painting, it’s been interesting to see that people try to figure out who the girls are and what the words are on the sash. And, it's skewed or elongated. It's not necessarily a fast read -it sets up a kind of puzzle or riddle for people. You have to be in front of it for a while to figure out what it is about. Our answer is that it's two pageant girls, two children. They're winners of a beauty pageant. Usually you get one winner, but here there's two. The idea we have in mind for this is 'working together and winning together.' We felt it was something positive. We call it Victory.”
p.s. words on the the sashes are - Supreme Winner
