These carriages share a space in the courthouse. One is a mountain wagon built for surveyor J.A. Rockfellow. He measured distance by tying a rag around a wheel and having an associate count the revolutions. The wagon has two seats and a storage box in the rear. It is essentially a box on wheels with cross mounted springs. There isn't a cover for weather protection. It was built in 1898.
The second is a runabout. It has a single seat with a leather boot in the front. No protection from the elements but it does have a braking mechanism. A nice thought!
Type and Quantity:
Two vehicles, a mountain wagon and a runabout.
