CZ: V recké mytologii je Prométheus titánem, synem titána Íapeta a Klymené.

Druhý den Prométheus zabil býka a do jeho kuže zabalil maso a vedle položil kosti obalené tukem. Poté zavolal Dia, aby si vybral tu hromadu, kterou chce, aby lidé bohum obetovali.

ENG: In Greek mythology, Prometheus is a Titan, the son of Titan Iapetus and Klymeni. His brothers were Epimetheus, and Atlas Menoetius.

When the Titans stand against the Olympian gods, Prometheus was added to the side of the gods.

One day Zeus decided that people should give sacrifices to the gods, because they allow them to live. The second day Prometheus killed the bull and its skin wrapped meat and bones placed beside coated with grease. Then he called Zeus to choose the pile, he wants people to sacrifice to the gods. Zeus expecting betrayal, but he was equally duped. Since then, people sacrificed to the gods only the bones and fat.

Zeus in anger trampled people all the fire that when they have meat instead of gods, let him eat raw. Prometheus felt regret that people have lost the fire, so he decided to return it to them. Fire stole the gods and the people it brought hidden in a cavity hole.

Under this act Prometheus was chained to a rock. Prometheus, however, even if he had no regrets. Therefore, Zeus sent an eagle Ethon that Prometheus wrested liver every day. She had then the next day were growing and thus had the eagle to eat after 12 generations.

Finally, he freed the hero Heracles, who shot Ethon and relaxed as Prometheus. He then returned to Olympus. Still, he had to carry the rock to which he was chained, at least as a stone in a ring.

The terminal hall of the station in Kralupy nad Vltavou has been decorated with a controversial Prometheus statue since 1986 (the height of the statue is 4m). He comes from the Brno sculptor Ladislav Martínek (1926–1987). The sculpture represents the figure of a running Prometheus carrying a fire. The author of the statue wanted to emphasize his contradictory painful condition just as the gods took fire to give it to the people. Thanks to the futuristic rendition, the statue was then pejoratively dubbed "Cripple".
