The municipal library "Heinrich Heine" is a public library under the auspices of the Thuringian city of Gotha. It is named after Heinrich Heine. In addition to the main facility, there is also a children's and youth library.
Until the end of 2013, the municipal library was located in the former Orange House of the Orangery Gotha. The children's and youth library was located in the western Old Town. At the beginning of 2014, the library moved to the nearby, reconstructed Winter Palace in Friedrichstraße.
At the new location, the children's and adults' libraries were brought together in one building. Approx. 60,000 media (as of March 2014) are offered on a usable area of 2,000 m².
