The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an art museum housing the collection of Carl Christian Hillman Jacobsen a Danish brewer, art collector, philanthropist, and owner of the Carlsberg Breweries. On 8 March 1888 Carl Jacobsen donated his collection to the people of Denmark and the City of Copenhagen provided a suitable building for its exhibition was constructed. The magnificent dome is located on the oldest part of the museum, the Dahlerup Wing, which is built in the Venetian renaissance style with a red brick façade with polished granite columns. The metal dome, which covers the winter garden of the museum, was completed in 1906.
The stamp was issued by Denmark in 2006 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the construction of the dome.
