The Heritage Trail is an approximately one mile loop on the grounds of the US Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) on the grounds of the Army's Carlisle Barracks. The Center and the trails are open daily from dawn until dusk (Museum hours vary). Admission is free.
The Trail takes visitors through several periods of US Army history, from Revolutionary War days up to the War on Terror, through the use of equipment displays and mock-ups of everything from World War I trenches to obstacle courses and Second World War encampments. Accompanying signage explains what the visitor is seeing and experiencing. During the summer docents also give talks about the various periods and associated equipment.
