"Un couvent de carmélites a été créé, en 1837 à Namur. Il est transféré à Jambes, rue d’Enhaive, le 11 août 1906. En 1952, suite aux dégâts du second conflit mondial et l’aménagement du rond-point Joséphine-Charlotte, le carmel est déménagé rue du Trou perdu, actuelle rue de l’Aurore . G. De Vlamynck avait conçu entre 1931 et 1933 les vitraux du carmel qui seront replacés sur les hauteurs de Jambes en 1954 grâce à la générosité d’un entrepreneur de la région qui en avait fait le vœu s’il retrouvait la santé.

En 2017 les contemplatives fort âgées rejoignent leurs consoeurs de l'ordre de la Charité à Salzinnes. Les Facultés Notre-Dame de la Paix de Namur viennent d'acheter l'imposante bâtisse, en plus de deux autres immeubles du centre ville, situés rue Blondeau et rue Henri Lemaître. 

C'est que, depuis la réforme de Bologne, les Facultés doivent faire face à un accroissement sensible de sa population estudiantine. Celle-ci est aujourd'hui estimée à quelque 4.300 étudiants mais pourrait encore s'étoffer de près de cinq cents unités, l'an prochain. Et qui dit étudiants, dit kots. Les Facultés namuroises qui s'emploient à loger un dixième de ses étudiants disposent d'un parc locatif de 430 kots, jugé insuffisant.

Celui-ci devrait en compter au moins 500 grâce entre autres à l'acquisition du Carmel jambois qui permettra de créer une trentaine de kots."

"A Carmelite convent was created in 1837 in Namur. He was transferred to Jambes, rue d'Enhaive, on 11 August 1906. In 1952, following the damage caused by the second world war and the development of the Joséphine-Charlotte roundabout, the carmel moved to rue du Trou perdu, now rue de l'Aurore. Between 1931 and 1933, G. De Vlamynck had designed the stained glass windows of the carmel, which will be replaced on the heights of Jambes in 1954 thanks to the generosity of a local entrepreneur who had wished for it if he was healthy again.

In 2017 the very old contemplatives joined their sisters of the Order of Charity in Salzinnes. The Facultés Notre-Dame de la Paix de Namur have just purchased the imposing building, in addition to two other buildings in the city centre, located on rue Blondeau and rue Henri Lemaître. 

This is because, since the Bologna reform, the Faculties have had to face a significant increase in their student population. This is now estimated at some 4,300 students but could increase by nearly five hundred units next year. And when you say students, you mean kots. The Namur Faculties, which are working to house one tenth of its students, have a rental stock of 430 kots, which is considered insufficient.

It should have at least 500 of them, thanks in part to the acquisition of the Carmel jambois, which will make it possible to create about thirty kots."
