The 2NU transmitter opened on Tamworth Road, in 1948 [ex: (
visit link) ] The name of Tamworth Road was changed to Fossickers Way in 1973. There had been controversy over the 'call-sign' for 2NU in 1954, which was being broadcast as "2NU Tamworth". The local council wanted a bit more representation of the diverse nature of the land it was reaching, especially as it was being broadcast 'from' Manilla.
