The Avola Cemetery is in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District of British Columbia. Avola is a small community of approximately 2,300 residents and within its boundaries is a prime salmon spawning area.
Though there are only 15 known burials within the cemetery, it appears some are long forgotten. It is interesting to note that the most current known interment was Frances Lunderberg who passed away in 2016.
Avola Cemetery is a small cemetery with a few grave sites that are surrounded with low wood fencing and the remainder is grass, quite lush common for early summer. There are many tall birch trees adding shade during those hot summer days.
The cemetery entrance is simple with a wood sign attached to the gate for Avola Cemetery.
