From an information panel on site:
This device, which used sound to find aircrafts, was operated in conjunction with anti-aircrafts guns.
Tubes connected two horizontally aligned horns to a pair of earpieces. An operator moved the detector from side to side until the aircraft sound was heard equally in each ear. At that point, ideally, the detector was pointed in the direction of the aircraft. Two vertically aligned cones were used to estimate the target's height by pointing the detector up and down until another operator heard the sound equally in both ears.
