The River Devon runs along the south side of the hillfoots towns that lie on the abrupt southern edge of the Ochil Hills in the centre of Scotland. A walking path follows the river from the town of Tillicoultry utilising old pathways and passing old mines on the south side of the river, before crossing to the north at the small town of Dollar, then crossing south again to reach a narrow minor road at Vicar's Bridge just over a mile to the east of Dollar where this sign can be found.

The sign gives information on the area along with its history and wildlife that can be found. The map shows the area you are standing in, along with the length of the trail along the river. Four features are highlighted with the following numbers:

1 Rackmill - A private house, formerly a grain mill predating 1600.

2 Dollar Bleach Works - Active from 1790 to 1936 and now used as lodges and a caravan park.

3 Damhead Wood - Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its ancient deciduous Alder woodland and Lesser Pond-Sedge.

4 Site of the house of the Earls of Tullibardine.

The sign lies on the south side of the bridge that straddles the border of the old county of Kinross-shire, and Clackmannanshire. The Vicar's Bridge Road runs between the A977 at the village of Blairingone, to the A91 east of Dollar.

Location Name: Vicar's Bridge Road, Dollar.
