From an information panel on site:

Leopard C2 Tank

Various models of the German-made Leopard have been Canada's main battle tank since the late 1970's.

The Leopard C2 is an upgrade of the original Leopard C1, as a response to the introduction of new Soviet tanks starting in the 1970's and 1980's. Turrets from more modern German Leopards provided improve targeting systems for the tank's weapons. The addition of armour improved protection for its crew. Between 2006 and 2011, Canadians used Leopard's C2 in combat for the first time in support of operations in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
