Writen on a card next to the gift of this copper plate from France is the following inscription:

Copper Plate
The copper plate was presented to the Mayor by a representative of Nîmes, France. Nîmes is often referred to as the "French Rome," as it still has buildings from the era of the Roman Empire. Depicted on the plate is the Arena of Nîmes, a roman amphitheatre that was built around
70 A.D."
This plate is located in a plexiglass case, on the second floor of Ottawa City Hall's Heritage Building, on Elgin Street.
