A photo by Barclay Gibson, dated 2009 can be found on Texas Escapes. (
visit link) So we at least know that this mural predates 2009. As for any other information, I honestly can't find any information on this mural.
Physically it is made up of four 4x8 panels, set about three feet off the ground on posts.
A separate sign on the bottom right reads:
Jumpstart Art Project
For Egypt Texas
Please Respect
(As with the mural itself, no related information on "Jumpstart Art Project" was found.
The artwork includes:
A sign which reads EGYPT
A spiral sun
A large grain elevator (Possibly the one behind this mural)
A woman standing near two garden plots
A building labeled "Quilt Shop"
An over sized red bird
Two houses
Several children
Two apple trees
A brown cow
Two ponds/lakes with fish
A cattle pen with the name "W. Johnson"
A road (possibly FM 102)
A red barn and a farm building
A church (possibly Mt. Gilead Baptist Church)
An oil derrick
What appears to be a "road" has the following single words and phrases:
"Dragonflies stirred like a tornado"
"People as glittery as a diamond ring"
"The church has been here 108 years"
"4 Years - 6 Months - 3 Days - 2 Hours - 12 Seconds"
"We fall down. But we get up"
"I rule the world"
"Faith", "Pride", "Unity", "Hope", "Life", and "Spring"
