Brown, John, House - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

John Brown House is at 225 E. King Street in the Borough of Chambersburg. This house was built between 1859 and 1860, and although Rebels burned the downtown section of Chambersburg on July 30, 1864, this building was just outside of the devastated area.

It was not until after the news of the rebellion at Harpers Ferry, did local citizens realize that John Brown resided in their midst. John Brown was known as Dr. Isaac Smith to the local residents of Chambersburg, and said that he was engaged in the development of iron mines.
