Hinter der Stadtpfarrkirche Purkersdorf befindet sich eine schöne, barocke Sandsteinstatue der heiligen Maria. Die Statue trägt einen goldenen Sternenkranz und wird von einem Metalldach vor der Witterung geschützt. Vor der Statue wurde eine Fläche mit diversen Pflanzen begrünt. Das dient einerseits der Schönheit dieses Platzes und andererseits dem Schutz der Statue vor menschlichen Einflüssen. Deutschwald-Marienstatue
Das barocke Kunstwerk aus Sandstein stand einst an der Giebelwand der Pragermühle, die jahrhundertelang an der Deutschwaldstraße (heute Fürstenberggasse) lag. Die Ähnlichkeit mit dem Marienstandbild an der Außenseite der Klosterkirche zu Mauerbach führte zu dem Schluss, dass es sich um die Arbeit eines Mauerbacher Kartäusermünches handeln müsste.
Nachdem die Pragermühle im Jahre 1959 dem Bau der Umfahrungsstraße (Tullnerbachstraße) zum Opfer fiel, wurde die Marienstatue restauriert und 1964 hier neu aufgestellt.

Außerhalb der neutestamentlichen Quellen ist über die Eltern Jesu historisch nichts überliefert, da nach herrschender Meinung der Forschung alle späteren Quellen vom Neuen Testament abhängig sind. Ihre Existenz und die Namen 'Maria' und 'Josef' werden dennoch von der überwiegenden Mehrheit der Historiker als authentisch angesehen."

Behind the parish church of Purkersdorf there is a beautiful baroque sandstone statue of St. Mary. The statue wears a golden wreath of stars and is protected from the weather by a metal roof. In front of the statue an area was filled with various plants. This serves on the one hand the beauty of this place and on the other hand the protection of the statue against human influences. To the left of the statue there is an enamel board of the 'Stadtverschönerungsverein' (City beautification association) with information about the history of the statue:
Deutschwald-Marian Statue
The baroque work of art made of sandstone once stood on the gable wall of the Pragermühle mill, which for centuries was located on Deutschwaldstraße (today Fürstenberggasse). The resemblance to the statue of the Virgin Mary on the outside of the monastery church in Mauerbach led to the conclusion that it must have been the work of a Carthusian monk from Mauerbach.
After the Pragermühle fell victim to the construction of the bypass road (Tullnerbachstraße) in 1959, the statue of the Virgin Mary was restored and re-positioned here in 1964.

The Catholic Church holds distinctive Marian dogmas, namely her status as the Mother of God, her Immaculate Conception, her perpetual virginity, and her Assumption into heaven. Many Protestants minimize Mary's role within Christianity, basing their argument on the relative brevity of biblical references. Mary also has a revered position in Islam, where one of the longer chapters of the Quran is devoted to her."
