Die durch den Straßenverkehr erzeugten Lärm und Abgase bauen sich aufgrund der Höhenlage rasch ab. Bei der Planung wurde Wert auf eine möglichst transparente, leichte Konstruktion mit ansprechender Pfeilerform gelegt.
Das gewählte Bauverfahren schont das Moseltal, das insbesondere durch Weinanbau und Tourismus geprägt ist, weitgehend.
