The current Rogers County Courthouse faces S. Lynn Riggs Blvd., between 1st and Patti Page. This is a four-story brick building with large concrete block facing on the ground level and at the roof line. The roof is flat, and the west-facing entrance has a projected entrance bay with a gabled roof, which extends above the flat roof with a triangular concrete pediment. There are three sets of double doors leading to the foyer. Windows are fixed pane with the continuous concrete sills. A concrete belt course surrounds the building between the first and second floors. The facade has a recessed area on either side of the entrance bay where the first two levels extend forward more than the upper floors. The upper floors have a wall of windows. The building is rather recent; in fact, the Google aerial map still shows the previous courthouse which once stood in front of this building.
Rogers County has a population of approximately 87,000. The area was first settled in the 1760's by the Arkansas band of the Osage Indians, at a point called Three Forks where the Arkansas, Grand and Verdigris Rivers converged. At the time of Statehood in 1907, the county was named Cooweescoowee County. Local residents rejected that name and chose to name the county Rogers, after Clement Vann Rogers, the father of Will Rogers.
The courthouse houses all of the local courts and administrative offices. There are three County Commissioners who meet weekly. Offices are open 9-5 Monday to Friday. The building contractor, Flintoco, has a website which shows several interior photos.
