Known as Back Door as it is at the back of the better known crescent shaped 7 Mile Beach at Gerroa & to the north of Black Head peninsular. Back Door is open to the big northerly swells whereas 7 Mile Beach is relatively calm being protected by Black Head.
There are consistent waves here of a one & a half metres on any given day to thundering giants when affected by low pressure systems. I walked here today & there were 6 board riders taking advantage of clean waves to two metres.
Parking is at the end of Headland Drive in a designated paved area & then a short walk to a small patch of sand & the rock platform to watch the waves & the surfers. A little way north thoughtful locals have carried down a sofa so sit a spell & watch the action.
