"Crow Canyon Gardens is a public park owned by the City of San Ramon. The gardens were first planted in May, 1978 and were initially created as a source for fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables for Mudd's Restaurant (located adjacent to the garden). Virginia Mudd's primary purpose for the creation of the restaurant and gardens was to advance the art of growing, preparing and serving fresh wholesome food, to illustrate the direct connection between the source of food – the garden or farm – and the dishes served in the dining room. Her passion was to introduce the public in a delightful way to a style of cooking and eating that is delicious, maximizes the nutritious value of the food, and takes into account the way in which the food is produced."
