Au vélodrome d'Alençon, près de la Plaine des sports, les travaux ont commencé début avril.
Réclamée depuis plusieurs années par les cyclistes alençonnais, la rénovation de l’anneau en béton de 250 m a démarré, sur le vélodrome d’Alençon (Orne).
Porté par la Ville, ce projet de réfection de la piste n’en est qu’au « sondage préliminaire » pour connaître l’étendue des travaux, dont le coût est, pour l’heure, estimé à 432 000 € TTC.
En septembre, si tout va bien

L’État, par le biais du Centre national pour le développement du sport (CNDS), et le Département de l’Orne, participent chacun à hauteur de 50 000 €, la Région Normandie pour 72 000 €.
La Ville d’Alençon devrait donc débourser un peu plus de 260 000 € pour ce chantier, dont la livraison est prévue pour septembre 2019.
« Mais il faut rester prudent, car avec ce genre de chantier de réhabilitation, très technique, nous ne sommes pas à l’abri de surprises qui pourraient repousser l’échéance », préviennent les services de la Ville.
Plusieurs étapes
C’est l’entreprise Freyssinet, du Havre, « spécialisée dans la réfection des ouvrages en béton », qui est chargée du chantier.
La piste ne sera pas détruite, mais rénovée, en plusieurs étapes.
« Il faut d’abord reprendre tous les joints entre les dalles, boucher les fissures sur le béton, purger toutes les dalles décollées, puis il faudra poncer l’anneau afin que la piste soit parfaitement du même niveau, avant d’effectuer les traçages. »

Ce chantier est suivi de près par la Fédération française de cyclisme (FFC).
Plusieurs travaux
Outre la piste, plusieurs éléments de l’infrastructure seront également concernés par des travaux. Un enrobé sera coulé sur une partie de la zone centrale du vélodrome, l’entrée des coureurs sera revue, le portail et les clôtures seront changés et les sanitaires et le coin buvette seront rénovés.
Les infrastructures de cette configuration (piste de 250 m, anneau incliné à 45°) sont rares. Les vélodromes du Mans (Sarthe) ou de Caen (Calvados) par exemple ne répondent pas aux mêmes critères.
Une fois terminé, le vélodrome d’Alençon, comme celui du Neubourg (Eure) par exemple, pourrait accueillir des compétitions régionales, voire nationales."
