Vauxhall's Town Hall can be found pretty much in the dead centre of the community. The community only has a little more than 1,000 people but has a full suite of recreational facilities including a world-class baseball academy. It's conservative at its roots and there's a large Mennonite community that farms the lands that surround the community.
The potato crops are grown on some of the best land in the Prairies. It's the irrigation works that give the land its potency. The oil and gas industry is also important to the economy.
There is an RCMP detachment, medical clinic, and three schools (elementary, high school, and the Horizon Mennonite school). The Vauxhall Advance still publishes weekly.
When I was in town, the local fire department was doing a fund raising drive. They even came into the Council Chambers where the meeting was occurring. The Council Chambers is a small meeting room, maybe 15' X 20'. It's to the left of the main entrance. The rest of the building has a reception area and offices for Town staff. The building is a modern one and in the heart of the downtown.
