"Kirkwood Station Brewing Company is closing today, after almost a decade in business, a manager confirmed to SLM on Wednesday evening. The restaurant is not to be confused with the similar-sounding Kirkwood Brewhouse (10312 Manchester), which opened two years ago and remains open.
"The brewery and restaurant, which opened in 2009 and is located a block away from the train station in downtown Kirkwood, was known for its award-winning draft beers. There were 11 beers on tap year-round, including a BlackBerry Wheat and Sugar Creek Lager, as well as seasonal flavors, such as the Big 5-0 Farmhouse Saison.
"The restaurant also boasted an extensive food menu with such St. Louis classics as toasted ravioli and playful takes on standard appetizers including Beer-Battered Train Tracks, deep-fried dill pickle slices served with Santa Fe ranch dipping sauce. The restaurant was also known for its pizzas, burgers, and pub fare.
"The now-defunct brewery doubled as a live music and event venue. It had a stage and a large dance floor, a room to host huge parties, a dining room that held 75 guests, and a sidewalk patio that ran the length of the building.
"Additional commentary on the closure is forthcoming. More as we learn it." ~ St. Louis Magazine, by Emily Wasserman, Febuary 28, 2019
