Kirkland Lake is a small Northern Ontario mining community with a very colourful history. It boasts many achievemnts for a small town. Kirkland Lake has had many local athletes rise to the ranks of the NHL, and Kirkland Lake is home to the new Hockey Heritage North facility. Kirkland Lake is also a very active mining community and once boasted the longest straight mine shaft with no interuptions. If you are ever visiting the area, there are many nice attractions to see such as The Sir Harry Oakes Chateau, also known as the Museum of Northern History.
