Sutter's Fort in Sacramento, built in 1839, was completely self-sufficient, having its own bakery, carpentry, weaponry and - of course - a blacksmith.
In the picture below left, the blacksmith store is on the very right.
The fort is open daily; on weekends, a blacksmith in 1840s attire demonstrates his craft. The blacksmith is a member of the Friends of Sutters Fort, who restored all the shops in 2017.
